Lace up, Vikings—it's time to hit the trails!Vikings Cross Country is back and chasing another unforgettable season, with sights set on a return to the CCAA Nationals.
The action begins Saturday, September 6, as the ACAC season kicks off with Grand Prix #1 hosted by Concordia Thunder. Mark your calendars for October 4, when the spotlight turns home—your very own UAA Vikings will host the highly anticipated Grand Prix #4 at the scenic Stoney Creek Centre.
"As we set foot into the demanding trials of the cross country season our Viking athletes have proven themselves of resilience and capability to take on the challenge." says Laura Brown, Vikings Cross Country Head Coach. "We have the advantage of returning seasoned vets and new recruits who have potential to be contenders in the top 15-20 finishes. I am looking forward to seeing what the team can achieve!"
Last year was one for the record books. Reggie Williams led the charge, earning a spot on the 2024 ACAC All-Conference Team after taking home a third-place finish in his first Grand Prix. He carried that momentum into the ACAC Championships at St. Mary's University, where he finished an impressive sixth out of 57 competitors, holding a blistering 3:31/km pace.
From there, the Vikings Men's team punched their ticket to the CCAA Cross Country Championship in Windsor, Ontario—testing themselves against the best in the nation and gaining experience that fuels this season's drive.
First up, the ACAC Cross Country Championships will be held in Grande Prairie, hosted by the NWP Wolves. From there, all roads lead to Charlottetown, PEI, where Holland College welcomes athletes for the 2025 CCAA Nationals, November 7–8. The Vikings are locked in—ready to rise, race, and reclaim their place on the national stage.
