Despite the flurry of end of season games and training, studying for finals, practice for group presentations, and all manner of getting into the holiday cheer, Augustana Vikings athlete Brett Ponich once again ran the third annual Vikes for Tykes Toy Drive. During the month of November, boxes were placed at the door for fans to drop new toys and envelopes at the front of house collected money to be donated. Each of the Vikings teams promoted their games and collection boxes in an effort to collect the most amount of toys during the holiday season.

This year, it was the women's volleyball team who generated the most donations and won themselves a $500 gift card to The Canadian Brewhouse. The women's basketball team came in second and won a prime rib dinner, while the curling teams came in third.

In total, Vikes for Tykes raised over 500 toys, half of which were donated to the Camrose Kinettes Secret Santa program and the other half will be donated to the Stollery Children's Hospital at a party for the kids within the next month, hosted by Vikings athletes.

However, the fundraising doesn't stop as the holiday season winds down. Vikes for Tykes fundraises throughout the school year and will be hosting another Bar Night on Feb. 1, with infomation forthcoming.

The Vikings would once again like to thank all our fans, friends and family who have made this fundraiser the success it continues to be. We're proud to be able to give back to our communities and your support makes that happen.
